Optics engineers have made impressive progress with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) hardware, with products in the market for several years from names like Meta, Microsoft, Google, and Apple. The field can be confusing, however, especially for non-experts who are not as familiar with the overlap of these terms and such things as mixed reality (MR), or the umbrella term extended reality (XR). AR also overlaps with various heads-up display and smart accessory markets.
Meanwhile, there remain several technical challenges that concern optics design. This panel discussion will examine these challenges and opportunities in the field for an audience of both experts and non-experts. The format will feature speakers from the conference theme program and others in an interactive Q&A format, including questions from the audience.
Come to listen and join in the discussion.
